With the economy in its current state its time to take stock of your marketable skills. With hundreds of thousands of people being laid off, and companies closing right, left and center, job security has become a thing of the past. In this kind of environment it pays to have some skills that are in demand.
You may have skills you have never considered turning into an occupation. For example, some of the most marketable skills are those possessed by a handyman. A handyman usually knows a fair bit about carpentry, drywall, electrical, plumbing, painting, flooring, gardening, landscaping, and many more things required around the typical home.
Believe it or not, there are thousands of homes right in your community owned by people who know virtually nothing about any of these things. When it comes time to replace a window, paint a fence, install a light fixture, or build a deck these people call in a professional because they would rather have someone do it who can do it correctly.
As a result there are virtually unlimited opportunities for a person with handyman skills who is prepared to go out and take advantage. Some handymen have a range of skills that allows them to do more complicated projects involving things like carpentry, cement work, simple electrical work and so on. Others specialize in things like building fences or decks, or renovating basements.
Whatever your specialization, if you are interested in starting your own handyman business, and you have the type of skills required to do relatively simple household maintenance and repair tasks you probably have what it takes. All that’s left is for you to think seriously about starting your own handyman business.
The advantages of having your own handyman business are fairly obvious. No more slaving away for the boss. You get to be the boss, set your own hours, and keep all the profits. Sure there are extra responsibilites attached to having your own handyman business. Probably most important, you have to be organized, since there won’t be anyone telling you what to do and how to organize your time.
Why not convert your handyman skills into cold, hard cash. If you are able to do quality handyman work, you can write your own ticket. Our handyman guide will show you how.
