Winter Camping and Winter Cooking

By pn7f7s0w | November 21, 2009

Winter camping and picnicking, although not as popular as they are in Summer still goes on, even in the Northern climes. Cross country skiing and motorized snowmobiles are favorite Winter activities for the whole family. That means cooking tons of hot food to keep the crew fueled and on the move. Chances are that there is a Coleman Propane Stove involved on these cold weather trips. These camping stoves are nearly indestructible and provide years of service. Some outdoor chefs report using the same Coleman stove every year for 20 or 30 years at a time.

Coleman Fold n Go Propane Stove is about 25% more compact than most other two-burner propane stoves. It’s unique feature is that the burners can be folded together into a compact wedge that could fit easily into a backpack. You would also have to carry bottles of Coleman propane fuel, which add to the load, but humping this stove is still doable for extended day trips or one nighters. Each burner puts out 10,000 BTUs of heat and can be used on low to simmer a sauce or on high to boil water quickly. The 13-inch wide diameter makes it great size for the campsite.

With a 24,500 BTU main burner and two 6,500 BTU auxilliary burners, Coleman Camp Stoves 3 Burner allows you to cook your favorite dishes wherever you want to go camping. This 3 burner stove is a bit hefty at almost 19 pounds empty so you will not be backpacking it, but that’s OK too because you will also be transporting a cooler full of the kinds of fixings that you enjoy at home.
